The Canadian authorities are considering handing over weapons and military equipment to Ukraine to help the country deter Russian aggression.

That’s according to CBC News, citing its own sources in the Canadian government, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Among the weapons Canada is considering sending are small arms, protective vests and goggles. Those items would be part of a package of both "lethal and non-lethal equipment," CBC News reported, referring to two sources.

It is noted that the equipment can be used to support the newly formed territorial defense units. " Whether Canada would provide extra troops to help train those irregular forces is unclear," the outlet wrote.

According to the report, the announcement on the military aid package for Ukraine is expected to come this week after the virtual cabinet retreat.

As reported earlier, the Canadian military training mission UNIFIER in Ukraine could be extended for another six months.
