NSDC Staff experts partaking in joint NATO-Ukraine Tabletop Exercise “Coherent Resilience”

Experts with the Staff of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine are set to participate in the joint NATO-Ukraine Tabletop Exercise “Coherent Resilience” on countering hybrid threats to critical infrastructure in the Black Sea region, which will be running in Odesa this week.

That's according to the NSDC press service, Ukrinform reports.

The exercise is part of the decision approved by NATO foreign ministers in Washington in April 2019 to support Ukraine in tackling hybrid challenges in the Black Sea region.

The exercise is conducted by the Cabinet of Ministers in cooperation with the NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence and with the support of the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School within the framework of the NATO-Ukraine Platform on Countering Hybrid Warfare.

The purpose of the drill is to build up stability of the system of Ukraine’s state bodies in the field of countering hybrid threats and crisis response by strengthening interagency and civil-military cooperation, planning, and ensuring preparedness.

The exercises will involve agencies operating in the security and defense sectors, institutions coordinating crisis management, as well as operators of energy and other critical infrastructure.

As Ukrinform reported, on February 9, during the Ukrainian government delegation’s visit to Brussels, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal discussed with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg the issues of strengthening cooperation with the Alliance and preparation for "Coherent Resilience."

On May 19-20, 2021, Kyiv hosted the Main Planning Conference on Coherent Resilience.
