Through public diplomacy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs seeks to improve Ukraine’s global recognition within the next five years, to make sure it is seen as a democratic European state, and to promote the Ukrainian unique identity.

That’s according to First Deputy Foreign Minister Emine Dzheppar who addressed the Ukraine 30. Image of Ukraine Forum on Tuesday, August 3, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

She emphasized that the Strategy of Public Diplomacy is a very practical document on applied issues.

"In the next five years, we set ourselves three specific tasks: first – the world learns more about Ukraine, that is, increasing the level of its recognition and understanding by wider foreign audiences, second – Ukraine is perceived as a democratic European country moving towards full EU and NATO membership despite Russia's external aggression, and third – in its foreign policy, Ukraine relies on an effective system of combating malign narratives aimed at compromising the Ukrainian nation, and actively promotes its own unique identity," Dzheppar said.

The Strategy of Public Diplomacy provides for the implementation of these tasks in seven areas – cultural, economic, expert, culinary, scientific and educational, sports, and digital diplomacy, the senior diplomat added.

"Each of these areas will see special attention of both diplomats and experts working with the Foreign Ministry," the first deputy minister emphasized.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, in March 2021, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs adopted the first-ever five-year Public Diplomacy Strategy, which formulates seven areas where efforts must be taken to promote the country’s positive image.
