Verkhovna Rada Chairman Dmytro Razumkov has said that Ukraine, like Georgia, continues to pay a high price for its European and Euro-Atlantic choice.

According to Ukrinform, he said this at a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia David Zalkaliani in Kyiv on Monday, May 17, the Ukrainian parliament's press service reported.

"Both we and you paid a high enough price for this choice. Part of our territories has been occupied. We have lost the most valuable thing - the life and health of citizens," Razumkov said.

Both parties discussed the situation in eastern Ukraine. In particular, Razumkov reminded Zalkaliani of the recent massing of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine and stressed that the joint work and support of various countries, including Georgia, had helped resolve this issue.

"Ukraine greatly appreciates Georgia's support and position on our temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Donbas. A similar situation is close for your state, so we really appreciate this unwavering position," Razumkov said.

During their meeting, Razumkov and Zalkaliani also discussed inter-parliamentary cooperation. Razumkov said that the coronavirus pandemic had affected the whole world, but he expressed hope that cooperation between the parliaments of Ukraine and Georgia would be deepened.
