Ukraine wants to conclude visa waiver agreement with Costa Rica asap – Foreign Ministry

Ukraine is interested in the early conclusion of a bilateral visa waiver agreement with the Republic of Costa Rica.

This was discussed during online political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Republic of Costa Rica at the level of the heads of relevant departments, Ukrinform reports with reference to the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine.

The parties discussed steps to further intensify bilateral cooperation in the political, trade and economic sectors.

"The Ukrainian side expressed hope for the early conclusion of a bilateral visa waiver agreement with the Republic of Costa Rica," the ministry said.

Director of the Third Territorial Department of the Foreign Ministry Ihor Prokopchuk announced Ukraine's interest in the construction and modernization of hydroelectric power plants in Costa Rica.

In addition, the delegations discussed the prospects for cooperation between the two countries in the field of pharmaceuticals.

In January-September 2020, the volume of bilateral trade in goods between Ukraine and Costa Rica amounted to USD 79.1 million. The surplus for Ukraine was USD 14.7 million. The main items of Ukrainian export were agricultural and metallurgical products.
