Ukraine, Turkey begin negotiations on resumption of flights

"Ukraine's Deputy Foreign Minister Vasyl Bodnar held a meeting with Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Ukraine Yağmur Güldere. The parties agreed to begin procedures related to the restoration of air traffic between Ukraine and Turkey, as well as the negotiation process between the competent authorities of the two countries regarding tourist trips," reads the statement of May 25.

The sides paid special attention to the implementation of the agreements reached during the official visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Ukraine on February 3 this year, in particular, on large-scale infrastructure projects in Ukraine and the construction of apartments for IDPs from Crimea in Kherson region.

The diplomats also agreed to intensify the existing consultative mechanisms at the level of the Foreign Ministries and other relevant ministries and departments of Ukraine and Turkey, provide the necessary preparation and holding of the next meeting of the Joint Economic Commission, and start planning the exchange of visits after the removal of quarantine restrictions.

Bodnar expressed gratitude to the Turkish side for providing humanitarian assistance to counter the spread of coronavirus disease in Ukraine and overcome its consequences, which is a clear manifestation of the strategic partnership between our countries.
