Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine Aliona Babak has stated that as part of the decentralization reform there are no reasons to create regions with special status.
"Speaking about the decentralization reform, we understand that today there are no reasons for creating regions with special status. In particular, the working group on amendments to the Constitution does not propose the creation of any special status territories. We should have the ubiquity of local self-government, including the temporarily occupied territories,” the minister told reporters on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
The minister also stressed that in this way the Ukrainian citizens, who live in temporarily occupied territories, will be able to fully exercise their right to self-government and self-determination.
