Parliament deprives MP Novinsky of parliamentary immunity

Ukrinform
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has upheld the motion of Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko for his consent to strip Novinsky's parliamentary immunity from prosecution.

The decision was supported by 228 deputies at the plenary session on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Vadym Novinsky is suspected of abuse of power and committing crimes together with Viktor Yanukovych and Kyiv law enforcement officials during the illegal imprisonment of Archbishop (now Metropolitan) Oleksandr Drabynko, when he was an assistant to now late Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Volodymyr (Sabodan).
