Dekanoidze asks to send more Canadian trainers for Ukraine’s National Police

The main purpose of the visit of Head of the National Police of Ukraine Khatia Dekanoidze to Canada was deepening of cooperation between Ottawa and Kyiv in the reform of the law enforcement system of Ukraine.

Khatia Dekanoidze said this in a commentary to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"We have many areas of cooperation, starting from equipment for patrol officers and expansion of the Canadian training mission and ending with the establishment of the National Police Academy. I hope that our cooperation with Canada will deepen, and, therefore, I paid this visit," Dekanoidze said.

The Head of the National Police of Ukraine added that she had invited the senior officers of the Canadian police to conduct "assessment mission."

In addition, Dekanoidze requested to increase the number of Canadian trainers and extend their stay in Ukraine by six months at least.
