Police say 70 persons already questioned in journalist beating case

During the investigation into the beating of Channel 5 journalist Olha Snitsarchuk, 70 people have been already questioned, Interior Ministry's acting spokesman Serhiy Burlakov told UKRINFORM on Monday.

KYIV, May 20 /UKRINFORM/. During the investigation into the beating of Channel 5 journalist Olha Snitsarchuk, 70 people have been already questioned, Interior Ministry's acting spokesman Serhiy Burlakov told UKRINFORM on Monday.

"Since the incident, 70 people have been already questioned, today it is still planned to question 20," Burlakov said.

He noted that the police interrogate witnesses of the fight, as well as policemen of various departments, who maintained public order.

As for Vadym Titushko, whom the journalists identified on the photo as one of the attackers, the Interior Ministry spokesman said that "operational units are searching him."

As UKRINFORM reported, on Saturday at around 14.20 in the Velyka Zhytomyrska Street Large a conflict occurred between the protesters, which later turned into a clash. As a result of the incident, Channel 5 and Kommersant journalists Olha Snitsarchuk and Vlad Sodel were injured. With a preliminary diagnosis of a "closed head injury", Snitsarchuk was hospitalized.

The investigation unit of the Shevchenkivsky District Police Department in Kyiv has opened criminal proceedings under Part 1, Art. 125 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Intentional minor injury" and Art. 171"Obstruction of the lawful professional activities of journalists

According to media reports, the alleged suspect is Vadym Titushko, nicknamed "Vadik Rumyn." He lives in Bila Tserkha, Kyiv region, attends a sports club Budo, engaged in combat sports. According to unofficial information, Titushko allegedly had criminal records.
