War update: 45 attacks since morning

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated this on Facebook in an operational update as of 16:00 on Sunday, May 3, according to Ukrinform.

"The aggressor is shelling border areas. Today in the Sumy region, the areas of Iskryskivshchyna, Sopych, Korenok, Neskuchne, Bezsalivka, Prohres, Bachivsk, and Volfyne came under fire. In the Chernihiv region — Serhiivka and Dibrova. Vilna Sloboda was hit by an airstrike," the statement said.

In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna  and Kursk directions, the enemy carried out one airstrike, dropped one aerial bomb, and conducted 43 shelling attacks on populated areas and Ukrainian positions.

In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna direction, the enemy attempted twice to improve its tactical position, conducting offensive actions toward Lyman and Mytrofanivka.

In the Kupiansk direction, no active actions were recorded.

In the Lyman direction, the enemy carried out two assault attempts toward Lyman and Ozerne; one battle is still ongoing.

In the Sloviansk direction, the enemy conducted two assault attempts toward Rai-Oleksandrivka and Riznykivka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, no offensive actions were recorded.

In the Kostiantynivka direction, Russian forces carried out 12 attacks near Kostiantynivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Pleshchiivka, Ivanopillia, Illinivka, Stepanivka, Rusyn Yar, and Sofiivka. One of these engagements is still ongoing.

In the Pokrovsk direction, since the beginning of the day, the invaders have attempted 16 times to push Ukrainian forces from their positions toward Dorozhne, Rodynske, Pokrovsk, Hryshyne, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, and Novopavlivka. Four clashes are still ongoing.

In the Oleksandrivka direction, the enemy attacked twice near Vorone and Berezove.

In the Huliaipole direction, seven attacks took place toward Zaliznychne, Verkhnia Tersa, Hirke, Charivne, and Huliaipilske, with three clashes still ongoing. Airstrikes hit Vozdvyzhivka, Verkhnia Tersa, Novomykolaivka, Malyn, Huliaipilske, Lisne, Kopani, Omelnyk, and Yehorivka.

In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy carried out one attack near Shcherbaky and launched airstrikes near Orikhiv, Odarivka, Zarichne, and Komyshuvakha. 

In the Prydniprovske direction, Ukrainian forces are repelling an enemy attack toward Antonivka.

No significant changes have been recorded in other directions. No enemy attempts to advance have been observed there.

As Ukrinform previously reported, Ukraine's air defense forces neutralized 249 out of 268 drones launched by Russian forces since the evening of May 2.
