NSDС: Ukraine spends 43% of its GDP on security and defense in 2025

Last year, Ukraine spent over UAH 3.8 trillion on security and defense.

This was reported on Facebook by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, according to Ukrinform.

As noted by the NSDC, funding for security and defense agencies in 2025 was fully provided.

In total, the security and defense sector was financed with over UAH 3.8 trillion, or 43% of GDP. The amount complies with the requirements of the Law “On National Security of Ukraine.”

These resources enabled meeting the crucial needs of security and defense sector entities under martial law.

The NSDC analyzed the state of financing for the security and defense sector in 2025, which was carried out in full and on schedule.

Revenues to the special fund of the security and defense sector showed positive dynamics, with actual expenditures exceeding the annual targets by 4.8 times, the NSDC emphasized.

As reported by Ukrinform, in 2025, revenues from the military levy to the state budget's general fund amounted to UAH 163.6 billion.
