Government appoints new Energoatom supervisory board

She said the new supervisory board consists of seven members.

“State representatives include Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine Vitalii Kindrativ, Head of the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine Serhii Sukhomlyn, and State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine Maksym Malashkin,” Svyrydenko noted.

In addition, the independent members of the supervisory board are Rumina Velshi, Laura Garbenciute-Bakiene, Patrick Fragman, and Brice Bujon. “All of them are respected international experts with many years of experience in nuclear energy, finance, risk management, and legal regulation,” she added.

The Prime Minister emphasized that appointing the new supervisory board is an important step toward renewing Energoatom. She noted that the selection process involved independent representatives of the EU, the EBRD, the IFC, and the Business Ombudsman, and was conducted through a full, open, and competitive procedure required for all strategically important state-owned enterprises.

“The Government took all the necessary steps to restart management and followed the recommendations of its partners to hold the competition in a full, rather than reduced, format,” Svyrydenko stressed.

She said that during her first meeting with the new members of Energoatom’s supervisory board, she tasked them with urgently appointing new company management.

“For the period necessary for the appointment, the Government has instructed that the company's temporary management be replaced,” she added.

According to Yulia Svyrydenko, the new supervisory board must also conduct a full analysis of the company's previous activities: contracts, purchases and auctions for the sale of electricity, taking into account information from law enforcement agencies, the media and members of the Verkhovna Rada.

As reported, on December 31, 2025, the nomination committee approved four independent members of the supervisory board of the NNEGC Energoatom.

Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers decided on a systemic reboot of governance in the energy sector and an audit in the defense sector.

On November 10, 2025, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau announced a special operation to expose corruption in the energy sector. According to the investigation, members of a criminal organization had built a large-scale scheme to influence strategically important state-owned enterprises, including Energoatom.

The main activity of the criminal organization was the systematic receipt of unlawful benefits from Energoatom’s counterparties. The amount of these illicit gains ranged from 10% to 15% of contract values.
