IAEA’s Grossi heading to Zaporizhzhia NPP

Ukrinform
Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Rafael Grossi is on his way to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant to assess the security and safety situation at the site.

That’s according to Grossi’s tweet.

“On my way to Zaporizhzhia NPP to assess first-hand the #nuclear safety & security situation at the facility. I will continue my efforts to protect the nuclear plant during the ongoing military conflict, & lead our next regular rotation of IAEA experts to & from the site,” Grossi tweeted.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Grossi previously announced his intention to visit the ZNPP.

On March 2, a rotation of IAEA inspectors took place at the plant. It was supposed to be held early February but the Russian invaders blocked the process.

Grossi expressed concern about the fact that the last remaining 330 kV backup transmission line at the Zaporizhzhia NPP, which was damaged three weeks ago, is still under repair.

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that it was necessary to find mechanisms for liberating the Russian-captured ZNPP as currently no international institution is able to solve the issue.
