Minister Marchenko: Ukraine’s GDP to cut by 33-35% due to Russian invasion

Ukraine’s economic losses are expected to reach 33-35% of gross domestic product (GDP) due to the war unleashed by Russia, according to the estimates of the Ukrainian Finance Ministry.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Finance Minister Serhii Marchenko during a briefing at Ukraine Media Center, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Our estimates coincide with the estimates of our international partners. Approximately, GDP losses will be 33-35%,” Marchenko told.

In his words, nominal GDP losses will exceed over UAH 1 trillion in 2022.

A reminder that, following three quarters of 2022, the reduction in Ukraine’s GDP was estimated at 30%.
