State Property Fund chairperson to represent Ukraine at Davos Forum
"The Davos forum is one of the most important top-level international events where world leaders and top representatives of the business community coordinate their positions in determining the future prospects of the world economy and set the trends of the year," the report reads.
It notes that this year will be the 50th forum, which determines the high level of international representation. In particular, the presence of U.S. President Donald Trump, who skipped the Davos Forum in 2019, is expected.
"For Ukraine, the Davos Forum will be an important and symbolic start of the new year, the year of great investment," SPF Chairman Dmytro Sennichenko said.
The State Property Fund draws attention to the fact that in 2019, the foreign business has taken a wait-and-see attitude towards Ukraine until the formation of a new government. The 2020 World Economic Forum, in turn, should be the starting point for the arrival of strategic investors in Ukraine in the coming years.
Since the beginning of the functioning of the new Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the appointment of the head of the State Property Fund in September 2019, the principles of state property management, as well as approaches to attracting investments and conducting privatization, have been transformed.
"We must confirm with real actions the high confidence and correspondingly high expectations of Ukrainian society. The year 2020 should be a breakthrough for attracting investment in Ukraine. We have changed approaches: no selective preferences for any influence groups, rules are uniform for all. The end of the corruption era, the beginning of the investment era. It is only necessary to repeat the words of President Volodymyr Zelensky, who earlier urged investors not to 'oversleep' Ukraine," Sennychenko said.
He confirmed his participation in the World Economic Forum. The SPF head is to deliver a speech at the forum and hold a number of bilateral meetings with international investors who have expressed interest in Ukraine.
