Ukraine's government introducing 'insurance price' for gas from Jan 2020 - Orzhel

Ukraine's government plans to introduce an "insurance price" for natural gas from January 2020, which will be 7% lower than the price set in the first quarter of 2019, Energy and Environmental Protection Minister Oleksiy Orzhel has said.
"The winter will be warm, but it is also necessary to ensure stable prices in payment documents. The government protects people from fluctuations in gas prices during winter even in the event of a halt in transit, difficult technological and financial conditions. The stocks we have in gas storage facilities allow us to offer the so-called insurance price," he said at a briefing on Monday.
According to him, this insurance price will be lower than the one in the first quarter of 2019.
"7% quarter to quarter price difference," the minister added.
Some 21.39 billion cubic meters of natural gas were stored in Ukraine's underground storage facilities on November 22, or 27% more than on the same date last year.
