Gas transit through Ukrainian GTS increased by quarter in January – Ukrtransgaz

The volume of gas transit from the Russian Federation through the Ukrainian gas transmission system (GTS) in January 2019 amounted to 7.6 billion cubic meters, which is 25% more than in January 2018.

The press service of JSC Ukrtransgaz reported this on the results of the Ukrainian GTS in January 2019.

"The volume of gas transit from the Russian Federation to the EU countries and Moldova through the territory of Ukraine amounted to 7.6 billion cubic meters, which is 1.5 billion cubic meters or by 25% more compared to January 2018," the report says.

The company notes that Ukraine did not pump gas into underground storage facilities in January 2019 the same as in January 2018. At the same time, Ukraine withdrew 2.7 billion cubic meters of gas from underground storage facilities during the first month of 2019.

As of January 31, 2019, there were 11.2 billion cubic meters of gas in the Ukrainian underground storage facilities.

In total, Ukraine in January 2019 imported 0.2 billion cubic meters of gas from the Slovak, Hungarian and Polish destinations.
