PM Groysman: Regional development is priority for Government

Regional development is one of the main tasks for the current Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said this at the opening of the program Decentralization Offering Better Results and Efficiency (DOBRE) in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We have determined that regional development is a priority. I want to emphasize that establishment of a modern, high-quality, effective system of the local self-government is one of my priorities because we have to finally create a system that will allow to implement the initiatives of local communities. This task requires powers, resources, and responsibility," Groysman said.

He recalled that when the process of decentralization had just begun, it became clear that the central government did not want to distribute powers and financial resources. Everything is different now, the Prime Minister assured.
