Implementation of the agreements on four disengagement areas and 19 mine clearance sites, reached within the framework of the Trilateral Contact Group, will begin in early 2021.

Head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak told journalists that four disengagement areas and 19 mine clearance sites had been agreed upon within the framework of the TCG. These agreements will be implemented from the beginning of 2021.

Speaking about the important achievements of 2020, Yermak also reminded of the release of 20 Ukrainians from captivity in April 2020 and noted that the work on the release of prisoners continues. According to Yermak, an important victory is the establishment of the ceasefire, which continues to this day, and as a result, the number of wounded and killed in the combat zone has decreased tenfold.

The Head of the President’s Office also pointed out the opening of two new border crossing points on the contact line this year. He also called an important achievement the fact that two thousand applicants from the occupied territories entered Ukrainian higher education institutions this year – the largest number over the past years.
