Militants launched 44 attacks on Ukrainian troops in Donbas in last day

The situation in eastern Ukraine has escalated as militants launched 44 attacks on positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Donbas over the past day. 

This is reported by the ATO press center.

The tensest situation was observed in Donetsk direction, where Russian-backed militants used grenade launchers, heavy machine guns and other weapons to shell Ukrainian strongholds near Zaitseve (67km north-north-east of Donetsk), Mayorske (45km north of Donetsk) and industrial area of Avdiivka (18km north of Donetsk).

In Mariupol direction, illegal armed formations launched attacks on Pavlopol (30 km northeast of Mariupol), using small arms and 82mm mortars. ATO troops also came under small arms fire outside Hnutove (19km north-west of Mariupol), Talakivka (20km north-west of Mariupol), Lebedynske (16km north-east of Mariupol) and Shyrokyne (20km east of Mariupol). One Ukrainian soldier was wounded in militants’ grenade launcher shelling near Marinka (35 km south-west of Donetsk).

In Luhansk direction, militants used small arms to fire at entry-exit checkpoint in Stanytsia Luhanska (16km north-east of Luhansk), violating the ceasefire and exposing the civilian population to danger.
