On Sunday, March 29, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the military to expand the “security zone” in southern Lebanon.

According to Ukrinform, Sky News reported this.

"I have just instructed to further expand the existing security buffer zone. We are determined to fundamentally ‌change the situation in the north," Netanyahu said during his video address.

The Israeli prime minister also added that this decision is aimed at strengthening Israel’s security positions along its northern border.

The Times of Israel notes that Netanyahu understands that “Hezbollah still has a residual capability to launch rockets at us,” and that he and IDF commanders have also discussed eliminating this threat.
