Netanyahu orders expansion of “security zone” in southern Lebanon
According to Ukrinform, Sky News reported this.
"I have just instructed to further expand the existing security buffer zone. We are determined to fundamentally change the situation in the north," Netanyahu said during his video address.
The Israeli prime minister also added that this decision is aimed at strengthening Israel’s security positions along its northern border.
The Times of Israel notes that Netanyahu understands that “Hezbollah still has a residual capability to launch rockets at us,” and that he and IDF commanders have also discussed eliminating this threat.
As reported by Ukrinform, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that Israel will maintain control over the “security zone” in southern Lebanon up to the Litani River until the threat from Hezbollah is eliminated, while the Israeli Air Force continues to strike targets belonging to the Iranian-backed terrorist group.
