UN: Russia kills 566 civilians in Ukraine in three months
According to Ukrinform, these figures were released by the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission.
“The vast majority of civilian casualties (97%) were recorded in territory controlled by the Ukrainian government. Civilian casualties were recorded in 19 regions of Ukraine and the city of Kyiv,” the report states.
According to the mission, at least 211 civilians were killed, and 1,206 were injured in March. This is 49% more than in February of this year and 29% more than in March 2025.
The main cause of civilian casualties continued to be strikes using long-range weapons (missiles and drones), which accounted for 36% of the total number of casualties. Most of these were recorded in cities and towns located far from the front line.
The monitoring mission also noted that, in March, intensified Russian strikes on railway infrastructure affected at least 14 regions.
As reported by Ukrinform, in Kyiv, five people were killed, and about 40 were injured, including an infant, as a result of a massive Russian strike. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, more than 10 people are still missing.
