Zelensky explains why Ukraine has no fuel reserves
According to a Ukrinform correspondent, the president announced this during a Zoom conference with journalists while in Qatar.
“Our reserves [of fuel] were, in fact, empty. We keep them empty because they were targeted from the start of the war, and, in fact, all our companies—whether in the private sector or Ukrnafta—have long-term contracts. That is, our reserves are tied up in contracts. But when there are challenges, when there is a shortage, this can work, or it can slow down. That is why we need long-term agreements with energy-producing countries, I would say. That is exactly what we are negotiating,” Zelensky said.
He noted that an important component of his visits to Middle East countries is establishing long-term energy cooperation.
“Yesterday, I secured a supply of diesel for at least a year,” the President said.
As reported, Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Qatar today on a visit.
