Defense Forces consider threat of Russian naval drones real and prepare for it, says Pletenchuk

According to a Ukrinform correspondent, Dmytro Pletenchuk, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Naval Forces, stated this on air.

“Currently, the enemy does not have any ships, including missile carriers, in the waters of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov,” Pletenchuk noted.

Also, Pletenchuk noted that there is no evidence of Russia scaling up the production of naval drones. “This is an industry where you have to adapt very quickly… The testing period for such systems is long; neither side is standing still, and countermeasures are evolving just as much as the tactics for their use,” the spokesperson said.

He emphasized that the Ukrainian side is using advanced means to counter Russian aggression at sea.

In addition, Pletenchuk noted, Ukraine continues to destroy enemy surveillance radars and radar systems, which is why “the number of targets they were covering is beginning to decrease.”

As reported by Ukrinform, on March 12, Pletenchuk stated that Russia had deployed two submarines to the Black Sea for missile launches only once in March.
