Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces used an FPV drone to destroy a Russian Ka-52 Alligator helicopter in the Donetsk region.

According to Ukrinform, the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook and released a corresponding video.

“In the Donetsk region, operators of the ‘Predators of the Heights’ battalion of the 59th Separate Assault Brigade of the Unmanned Systems Forces destroyed a Ka-52 Alligator reconnaissance and attack helicopter using an FPV drone. This is already the second helicopter accounted for by the 59th Brigade,” the post reads.

As explained by the Unmanned Systems Forces, the Ka-52 is a next-generation reconnaissance and attack helicopter, a command vehicle of army aviation designed to destroy armored vehicles, manpower, and aerial targets.

The cost of such a helicopter is estimated at around $16 million.

“As a result of an emergency landing, the helicopter crew attempted to escape, but was promptly detected and eliminated by pilots of the 1st Battalion of the 414th ‘Magyar’s Birds’ Brigade,” the Unmanned Systems Forces reported.
