Russian attacks on energy infrastructure leave three regions without power

Ukrinform
As of the morning of March 9, Russian attacks have left consumers in the Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions without power.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by NEC Ukrenergo on Facebook.

"Due to enemy attacks on energy infrastructure and as a result of hostilities in frontline regions, as of this morning, consumers in the Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions are without power. Where security conditions allow, emergency repair work is already underway. Energy workers are doing everything possible to restore the equipment damaged by the enemy as quickly as possible," the statement said.

Due to the consequences of previous massive attacks on the energy sector, some regions are applying power restriction schedules for industry and hourly power outage schedules for other categories of consumers.

As of 9:30 a.m. on Monday, electricity consumption was 4.5% lower than on the previous working day, March 6. This is due to clear weather throughout Ukraine, which leads to high efficiency of household solar power plants and a corresponding reduction in energy consumption from the general grid.

"Given the weather conditions, it is advisable to shift active energy consumption today to the period of most efficient operation of solar power plants - from 11:00 to 16:00. In regions where hourly power cuts are in effect, it is still necessary to conserve energy and shift energy-intensive processes to nighttime hours, after 10:00 p.m.," Ukrenergo noted.

As reported by Ukrinform, on the night of March 7, Russia again attacked Ukraine's heat-generating infrastructure, in particular, heat supply facilities in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Donetsk regions.
