Military ombudsman: Up to 1.6 million could potentially join Ukraine’s Armed Forces

Ukraine is currently experiencing a mobilization crisis; however, up to 1.6 million people could potentially join the armed forces, which could allow for rotation of military units.

This was stated by military ombudsman Olha Reshetylova (Kobylynska) in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda, according to Ukrinform.

“We have already reached the point where we are facing a crisis in mobilization. It is ongoing, and every month a certain number of recruits join the military. This function is carried out by the Territorial Recruitment Centers and the police, which have recently become involved,” she said.

The ombudsman noted that, according to estimates by the Ministry of Defense, 1.6 million people are currently eligible to potentially replenish the armed forces.

“Obviously, this would allow for rotation to take place,” Reshetylova added.

According to her, the main problem remains communication between the state and society regarding defense needs, as well as an imbalance in the information space.
