Russian forces intensify small-unit assaults near Huliaipole but fail to gain foothold – Voloshyn
This was reported on television by Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for the Defense Forces of the South, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“South and west of Huliaipole, the enemy is trying to actively operate in a small section of the front toward Zaliznychne and the Huliaipilske. There, we record the highest number of combat engagements in this sector during the day. In particular, eight combat clashes were recorded near Zaliznychne over the past day,” he said.
According to the spokesperson, the enemy is operating in small groups due to terrain that facilitates such tactics.
“Zaliznychne now essentially resembles an open field where assault groups can enter. There are both our and enemy assault groups there. We are also carrying out search-and-strike and reconnaissance operations, destroying enemy groups,” Voloshyn added.
He noted that the enemy is unable to bring in reinforcement groups, establish logistics, or hold positions in Zaliznychne, as well as near Myrne and Charivne, because Ukrainian forces are pushing them out.
As reported, 241 combat engagements between Ukraine’s Defense Forces and Russian troops were recorded on April 26, with the enemy showing the highest activity in the Pokrovsk sector, where Ukrainian defenders repelled 55 assault attempts.
