Russian forces strike Kherson with artillery, one dead

A 79-year-old man was killed in Kherson as a result of hostile artillery shelling, and proceedings have been initiated.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

“Under the procedural guidance of the Kherson District Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation has been launched into the commission of a war crime that resulted in the death of a person,” the statement said.

According to the investigation, on March 5, 2026, at about 7:30 a.m., Russian army servicemen carried out artillery shelling of Kherson. As a result of the shelling, a 79-year-old man who was at home was killed.

The Kherson Regional Military Administration also reports that there are wounded and burned cars in the city as a result of the morning attacks by Russian drones.

In particular, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Russian invaders attacked civilian transport in the center of Kherson with a UAV. As a result of explosives being dropped from the drone, three cars were burned and another was damaged.

Later, the Regional Military Administration reported that a local woman was injured as a result of this attack by a Russian UAV in the center of Kherson. The 70-year-old woman, who sought medical attention on her own, was diagnosed with blast trauma and concussion.

The Regional Military Administration also reported that the Russian military attacked the central part of Kherson with a UAV at approximately 9:15 a.m. The enemy dropped explosives from a drone on a 67-year-old man who was on the street. He suffered blast trauma and a shrapnel wound to his leg. An ambulance crew took the victim to the hospital in moderate condition.

As reported by Ukrinform, three people were killed and four more were wounded in the Kherson region over the past day due to Russian aggression.
