Air defenses neutralize ballistic missile, 81 drones used by Russia to attack Ukraine overnight

According to Ukrinform, the Ukrainian Air Force said this in a post on Telegram.

Beginning at 18:00 on January 6, the enemy launched one Iskander-M ballistic missile from Taganrog, as well as 95 attack UAVs of the Shahed, Geran, and other types from Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Oryol (Russia), Hvardiiske (temporarily occupied Crimea), and temporarily occupied Donetsk. Around 60 of the drones were Shaheds.

Ukrainian aircraft, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare and drone units, and mobile fire teams of the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled the aerial assault.

According to preliminary data, as of 07:30 on Wednesday, January 7, air defenses shot down or jammed one ballistic missile and 81 drones over northern, central, and eastern Ukraine.

There were recorded impacts by 14 attack UAVs at eight locations, as well as debris from downed drones at five locations.

The attack is ongoing, with several enemy UAVs still in Ukrainian airspace.

As was reported earlier, Russian forces carried out 682 strikes on 24 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region on January 6, killing two people and injuring another nine.
