Russia reports attack on Novokuybyshevsk Oil Refinery
The Telegram channel ASTRA reported this, Ukrinform notes.
According to ASTRA, which verified the information using eyewitness video, the flashes after the attack on Novokuybyshevsk in the Samara region occurred directly above the local oil refinery.
The footage shows at least three flashes, one of which is likely the work of air defense south of the Novokuybyshevsk Oil Refinery (the distance from the filming location to the explosion exceeds 3.5 km).
Local authorities did not comment on the attack, but following the explosions, the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) closed the Samara airport.
The Novokuybyshevsk Oil Refinery is a Russian oil refinery in the Samara region and is part of the Rosneft group. The facility had previously been attacked on 16 November and 19 October.
Overall, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense, from 23:00 to 8:30, 118 UAVs were “intercepted and destroyed” over the territory of Russia and the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea, the BBC Russian Service reports.
As reported by Ukrinform, on the night of November 21–22, drones targeted fuel and energy infrastructure facilities in Russia’s Samara region. Reports indicate that the Syzran Oil Refinery was hit.
