The situation in the Orikhiv sector of the front remains tense, particularly near Stepove and Mali Shcherbaky, where Russian forces have intensified shelling and are attempting to regain lost positions.

Vladyslav Voloshyn, Spokesperson for the Defense Forces of the South, reported this in a comment to Ukrinform.

“In the Orikhiv sector, the most critical sections of the front are near Stepove and Mali Shcherbaky. As for Mali Shcherbaky, the enemy is concentrating its firepower there and carrying out quite active shelling of this settlement because they seek to reclaim the tactical position they lost,” the spokesperson noted.

Voloshyn explained that several weeks ago Ukrainian forces carried out successful actions to improve their tactical position, pushing Russian occupiers deeper into their defensive lines. However, the Russians are now attempting to step up their activity again.

“Over the past day, the enemy attempted to assault Mali Shcherbaky three times,” he said.

The spokesperson also drew attention to changing weather conditions, which may complicate the situation on the front.

“Right now, the south of Ukraine is experiencing fog and drizzle, which gives the enemy opportunities for infiltration and covert movement. We expect the enemy to step up its actions specifically on the Orikhiv direction, particularly near the settlements of Bilohiria and Shcherbaky,” Voloshyn added.

As reported by Ukrinform, on November 9, a total of 265 combat engagements were recorded between Ukraine’s Defense Forces and Russian invaders.
