Russia likely to manipulate European security narratives, its drones could enter NATO airspace again, Ukraine warns

Ukrinform
In the second half of September, Russian propaganda is expected to maintain intense information attacks against initiatives for international security guarantees for Ukraine.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported on Telegram by the Center for Countering Disinformation under Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council (NSDC).

“In the second half of September, the Center predicts that Russian propaganda will not ease its information attack on initiatives regarding international security guarantees for Ukraine. We expect attempts to promote the idea of the ‘fictitiousness’ of any Western commitments and continued efforts to undermine trust in the Coalition of the Willing,” the statement reads.

It is also expected that Russian propaganda will attempt to discredit the EU’s 19th sanctions package and try to undermine unity between the U.S. and EU. Manipulations about economic difficulties in Europe are likely to be spread to reinforce the narrative that sanctions hurt the EU more than Russia.

The Center also predicts manipulations around European security, using the results of the Zapad-2025 exercises to intimidate. For the same purpose, and to destabilize the situation within the EU, new incursions of Russian drones into NATO countries are considered likely.

Additionally, the Kremlin is expected to use the UN General Assembly platform for diplomatic and media campaigns to push its vision of “peaceful settlement.” Russian diplomats may exploit narratives about “Western neocolonialism” to gain support from Global South countries.

As reported by Ukrinform, Russia has intensified information operations following the killing of American activist Charlie Kirk and violations of Polish airspace by Russian drones.
