Siverskodonetsk resident sentenced to 15 years for arson attacks on Ukrzaliznytsia and Defense Forces facilities

The investigation revealed that the Russian Federation's tasks were carried out by a 23-year-old resident of Siverskodonetsk, who moved to Bukovyna after the start of the full-scale war and began looking for “easy money” on Telegram channels. Then he was “noticed” and subsequently recruited by Russian special services.

Following instructions from the Russians, the man first carried out 'test' assignments, which involved painting provocative graffiti on buildings. Subsequently, he began carrying out his main tasks. First, he set fire to a relay cabinet on a railway line. Then, he began tracking and attempting to destroy a Ukrainian Armed Forces service vehicle.

In both cases, the traitor recorded the fires on his phone camera for “reporting” to the FSB, hoping to receive money from the Russians.

The SSU counterintelligence detained the man “hot on the heels" when he tried to flee the scene after setting fire to a military vehicle.

Based on evidence gathered by SSU investigators, the court found him guilty of treason under martial law (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and of obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Part 1 of Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

As reported by Ukrinform, based on materials from the SSU and the National Police, a Russian agent who committed arson in Kharkiv on behalf of the Russian Federation was sentenced to 15 years and one month of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
