Two killed in Russian missile strike on lyceum in Odesa region; 18 were inside
Odesa Regional Military Administration head Oleh Kiper provided these details on television, as reported by Ukrinform.
"The educational institution sustained two direct hits from ballistic missiles. According to our information, 18 people were inside at the time. Among the deceased are two staff members—the head teacher and the head of the household," Kiper said.
He added that 12 people were injured in the strike. Nine remain in moderate condition, while three are in serious condition—including two 11th-grade students. One of the seriously injured is a Ukrainian boxing champion.
Search and rescue operations are ongoing.
Kiper noted that the school had celebrated its graduation ceremony just one day before the strike.
Later, Marina Averina, spokeswoman for the State Emergency Service in the Odesa region, told journalists that 14 people were injured in the attack.
As reported by Ukrinform, two people were killed and 12 others wounded in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, Odesa region, as a result of a Russian missile strike on the afternoon of June 23.
