Russia falsely claims Ukraine provoking armed clash between Azerbaijan, Armenia - intel

Russia has launched a psyop aimed at discrediting Ukraine and worsening Ukrainian-Armenian and Ukrainian-Azerbaijani relations.

That’s according to the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry, Ukrinform reports.

"A fake report is being circulated in the Armenian information space, in particular via Telegram channels, accusing the HUR of allegedly attempting to inspire or contribute to the start of an armed conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia," the statement reads.

The HUR says the masterminds behind the spin claim Ukraine’s “plot” is to have a new round of Azerbaijani-Armenian war force Russia to open a "second front", and therefore disperse its military assets, which would benefit Ukraine.

"The psyop takes root in a fake report allegedly filed by the HUR with Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Ivan Havryliuk. The circulated peace contains a number of gross errors (the incorrect spelling of the name "Ivan", the wrong acronym for the tax registration ID, and others), and is in breach of the regulations for government paperwork flow in Ukraine," the defense intelligence agency noted.

The HUR emphasizes that the Russian effort is aimed at discrediting Ukraine and worsening Ukrainian-Armenian and Ukrainian-Azerbaijani relations, which is beneficial primarily for the aggressor state, which is Russia.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, psyops against Ukraine and the EU are financed through classified budgets. Russia annually spends over $100 million on spreading fake news targeting Ukraine.
