
Ukraine downs two Russian ballistic missiles, 24 drones overnight Sat
That’s according to the Air Force, Ukrinform reports.
From 19:00 on January 17, the Russians attacked Ukraine with 39 Shahed kamikaze UAVs and decoy drones of various types from Millerovo, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and also launched four Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles (launched from Voronezh and Bryansk regions).
The air raid was repelled by air defense units, electronic warfare capabilities, and mobile fire groups.
As of 08:00, it has been confirmed that two Iskander-M/KN-23 missiles were shot down in Kyiv region, as well as 24 Shahed UAVs and drones of other types – over Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Khmelnytskyi, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Donetsk regions.
Fourteen decoy drones disappeared from radar, causing no damage on the ground.
As a result of the enemy strike on Kyiv, fatalities were reported. The downed ballistic missiles hit the Shevchenkivskyi district. The production building of an enterprise was partially destroyed. Residential buildings, the entrance to a metro station, a number of cars, and the water main sustained damage, the Air Force noted.
According to tentative reports, there is currently no confirmation of fatalities in Zaporizhzhi following a Russian strike. Search and rescue operations are ongoing, but casualties have been reported. The Russians hit one of the city's enterprises using ballistic missiles. A number of houses and vehicles were also damaged.
As Ukrinform reported, in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv, four people were killed and three injured as a result of a Russian ballistic attack on the morning of January 18.
In Zaporizhzhia, eight people were injured as a result of a Russian attack this morning.
