Hotel hit by Russian missile dismantled in Chernihiv
This was reported by the Chernihiv City Council, according to Ukrinform.
"The issue (of dismantling - ed.) of the Ukraina Hotel needs to be resolved promptly because this building poses a threat to Chernihiv residents. Fortunately, no one was injured when the emergency occurred and part of the roof fell off. If a similar tragedy happens, it will be the responsibility of the owner. And it's good that after a year and a half, they are coming to the executive committee with a request to grant permission for dismantling and reconstruction. It would be desirable to start dismantling in the coming weeks after this decision is made," said Oleksandr Lomako, acting mayor of the city.
The building of the 'Ukraina' Hotel was destroyed on the night of March 11, 2022, allegedly as a result of a Russian Iskander missile. After the end of active hostilities in the region, Mayor Vladyslav Atroshenko repeatedly made public appeals to the owners of the building to begin dismantling it.
On June 2, 2023, a severe storm tore off part of the roof of the destroyed hotel, which fell onto the roadway on Peremohy Avenue, damaging the trolleybus contact network.
