President: Russia needs world food market to collapse
“Now, for the Russian state, this is a battle not only against our freedom, not only against our state. Moscow is fighting a battle for a global catastrophe: these lunatics need the world food market to collapse,” the President said in his evening address.
According to him, Russia needs price crises, supply disruptions because “someone in Moscow thinks they can make money on this.”
“Someone in Moscow hopes they will be able to bargain for something... These are very, very dangerous hopes,” Zelensky noted.
The President added that food security was among the issues he discussed today with the Ukrainian ambassadors at the meeting in Zakarpattia region.
As reported, Russia has been attacking repeatedly the southern regions of Ukraine. Odesa and Mykolayiv – ports, piers, residential buildings, and trade networks – were hit by Russian missiles.
On July 19, Russia launched a targeted air attack on grain terminals in Ukrainian ports. The grain infrastructure of international and Ukrainian traders and carriers was damaged.
In the port of Chornomorsk, 60,000 tonnes of grain were destroyed as a result of Russian strike on the port infrastructure involved in the grain initiative.
