War update: 40 combat engagements in five front directions

This is stated in the report by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06:00, July 23.

“Over the past day, the aviation of the defense forces launched 12 strikes on enemy personnel, weapons, and military equipment clusters. Also, our defenders destroyed four operational-tactical reconnaissance UAVs. Missile and artillery units hit 21 artillery pieces on firing positions, an anti-aircraft missile system, and another important enemy target,” reads the report.

The Russian invaders launched an air strike using Shahed combat drones over the past day. All five UAVs were destroyed by Ukrainian soldiers. In addition, the enemy launched four missile strikes, 58 air strikes, and 81 MLRS attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated settlements. Unfortunately, there are civilian casualties, residential buildings and other infrastructure objects were destroyed.

In Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly. There were no signs of the formation of offensive groups.

In Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna directions, the enemy launched an airstrike near Veterynarne in Kharkiv region. Mortars and artillery were fired at more than 15 settlements, in particular, Tymonovychi in Chernihiv region; Seredyna-Buda, Uhroyidy, Riasne in Sumy region; Kozacha Lopan, Strilecha, Ternova, Budarky in Kharkiv region.

In Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian soldiers firmly hold the defense.

Kamyanka, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Zapadne, Kupyansk, and Kyslivka in Kharkiv region came under enemy artillery and mortar attacks.

In Lyman direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive operations in the areas of Nadiya in Luhansk region; Torske, Hryhorivka in Donetsk region. Airstrikes were launched on Serebrianske forestry and the area of Spirne in Donetsk region. The settlements of Nevske, Bilohorivka in Luhansk region; Torske, Verkhniokamyanske, Spirne, Rozdolivka in Donetsk region were hit with artillery.

In Bakhmut direction, the Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled enemy attacks in the area of Bohdanivka and Ivanivske, Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements, including Vasiukivka, Markove, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Stupochky, Kostiantynivka, Druzhba, and New York in Donetsk region, came under enemy artillery fire.

In Avdiyivka direction, the Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled Russian attacks near Avdiyivka. The enemy launched an airstrike near Sieverne, Donetsk region. At the same time, artillery was fired at more than 10 settlements, in particular Avdiyivka, Pervomaiske, Nevelske in Donetsk region.

In Maryinka direction, the defense forces continue to hold back the advance of Russian troops in the areas of Krasnohorivka and Maryinka in Donetsk region. The enemy launched an airstrike near Krasnohorivka. More than 10 settlements, including Maksymilyanivka, Heorhiyivka, Maryinka, and Pobieda in Donetsk region, were struck.

In Shakhtarske direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive operations in the area of Novomykhaylivka. Airstrikes were launched near Blahodatne and Makarivka, and more than 10 settlements, including Paraskoviyivka, Novomykhaylivka, Vuhledar, Blahodatne in Donetsk region, were hit.

In Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the enemy focuses its main efforts on preventing the further advance of Ukrainian troops. The invaders made unsuccessful attempts to restore the lost position in the area south of Novodarivka, Zaporizhzhia region. Airstrikes were launched near Huliaypilske, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Pyatykhatky in Zaporizhzhia region. More than 25 settlements were hit with artillery, including Novodarivka, Huliaypole, Huliaypilske, Novoandriyivka, Stepove, Kamyanske in Zaporizhzhia region; Nikopol in Dnipropetrovsk region; Kherson, Zolota Balka, Dudchany, Beryslav, Antonivka, Bilozerka, Veletenske in Kherson region. At the same time, the Defense Forces of Ukraine continue to go on the offensive in Melitopol and Berdiansk directions, gaining a foothold on the achieved frontiers.

In the temporarily captured town of Enerhodar in Zaporizhzhia region, the occupiers intensify repressions against the ZNPP workers who refuse to cooperate and enter into contracts with the Russian occupation administration. Instead, Ukrainians continue to resist: they do not go to work, sabotage the implementation of the decisions of the occupation administration, etc. In turn, the invaders exert psychological and physical influence on such workers. Russian Guard and FSB officers use intimidation, threats, blackmail, and also beat Ukrainian specialists, take their cash, funds from bank cards, and seize mobile phones.
