The Ukrainian military-industrial complex is working to ensure the protection of the nation’s port infrastructure against Russian missile and drone attacks.

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov spoke of this on the air of the national telethon, Ukrinform reports.

"We realize that there is a lack of air defense capabilities to down certain types of weapons employed by the Russian Federation. The president has set the task of ensuring protection. Today, all possible contacts have engaged to speed up the delivery of the necessary capabilities. However, I’d like to note that we are developing them ourselves now, and there is already an understanding about such defense systems. Our military-industrial complex is already producing such capabilities. I think protection will be strengthened in the near future," Danilov said.

However, unfortunately, this does not guarantee "100 percent" protection against Russian attacks, he noted.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Russia has been attacking the southern regions of Ukraine, Odesa and Mykolaiv, for a few consecutive days. Russian missiles hit ports, piers, residential buildings, and trade networks.

On July 19, Russia carried out a targeted air attack on grain terminals located in Ukrainian ports. The grain storage infrastructure operated by international and domestic traders and carriers sustained damage.
