Shelling in Kherson region: the SES tells about condition of injured rescuers

Two employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, who were injured as a result of Russian shelling of the Kherson region on June 8, are in hospital.

Viktor Vitovetsky, the director of the Department for Organizing Civil Defense Measures of the State Emergency Service, said this on the air of the United News telethon, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"Even on the right bank, our employees are not safe. Yesterday there were cases of injuries - two employees were injured as a result of shelling by the Russian aggressor. Therefore, the danger remains constant. The injured are now in hospital, their condition is stable. We are in touch with them on a regular basis, doctors are providing all possible medical assistance," said Vitovetsky.

He informed that more than 800 SES personnel, more than 170 units of equipment, the National Police, municipal services of regional state administrations, and other forces are currently involved in the emergency response.

Vitovetsky praised the work of volunteer organizations.

"There is significant activity and assistance from volunteer organizations. They are very active and help a lot. At the same time, we have to admit that there are those who come to take a selfie and then leave... That is why I would like to ask people: if you came to help, please help," Vitovetsky added.

As reported, the day before, two employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine were injured in a Russian shelling in the Kherson region.

On the night of June 6, the Russian army blew up the dam of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant. The evacuation of the population from dangerous places at risk of flooding has begun in the Kherson region. Law enforcement officers opened an investigation into the occupiers' undermining of the Kakhovka HPP under the article "ecocide."
