The Russians in the occupied territories use civilians as human shields - they are located in high-rise buildings on the ground floors, and civilians are placed on the upper floors to avoid being hit by the air.

Natalia Humeniuk, the head of the joint press center of the Southern Defence Forces, said this on the air of the United News telethon, Ukrinform reports.

"Realising that we are working on a point-by-point basis, specifically targeting purely military targets, even where the occupation forces are evicting people and setting up their garrisons, they have now adopted the manner of a multi-layered human shield. That is, the first or second floors of high-rise buildings are inhabited by the military, while the rest are forcibly populated by civilians in order not to be hit from the air, order not to be detected as a point of deployment of troops," she said.

According to her, this is a classic example of the same behavior in the right bank of the Kherson region, because their tactics do not change - they insidiously hide behind the civilian population.

As reported, from 24 February 2022 to 22 May 2023, the Ukrainian Defence Forces eliminated about 203,880 Russian invaders, including 720 people over the past day.
