Enemy trying to advance in five directions, holding defense in Zaporizhzhia, Kherson regions

Russian invaders are unsuccessfully trying to advance in the Kupiansk, Lyman, Avdiivka, Marinka and Shakhtarsk directions; the enemy is conducting an assault on the city of Bakhmut and holding the defense in Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in an evening update published on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

"Throughout the day, the enemy launched 40 airstrikes and 5 missile attacks, carried out more than 20 attacks using multiple launch rocket systems on the positions of our troops and the civilian infrastructure in populated areas. Civilians were killed. The probability of further missile and air strikes on the entire territory of Ukraine remains high, because the Russian occupiers will continue to use terror tactics," the report says.

Russian troops are focusing their main efforts on conducting offensive operations in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Marinka, and Shakhtarsk directions. Ukrainian defenders repelled more than 38 enemy attacks.

In the Kupiansk and Lyman directions, the Russian invaders conducted unsuccessful offensive operations in the area of Serebrianka Forestry and near the settlements of Hrianykivka and Bilohorivka. They carried out artillery shelling of Kamianka, Dvorichna, Hrianykivka, Zapadne, Kupiansk and Pishchane settlements in Kharkiv region; Stelmakhivka, Nevske, Dibrova and Bilohorivka in Luhansk region; Terny and Spirne in Donetsk region.

In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy continues to assault the city of Bakhmut, which is held by Ukrainian defenders, as well as in the areas of Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske and Stupochky settlements in Donetsk region. Russian forces shelled the settlements of Minkivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Hryhorivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Stupochky, Predtechyne, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Zalizne, Severne and Toretsk.

In the Avdiivka, Marinka, and Shakhtarsk directions, the Russians conducted offensive operations in the direction of Keramik, Stepove, Avdiivka, Severna, Pervomaiske, and Pobeda settlements in Donetsk region, but without success. Avdiivka, Tonenke, Netailove, Lastochkyno, Heorhiivka, Marinka, Pobieda, Novomykhailivka, Vuhledar, Prechystivka and Zolota Nyva in Donetsk region came under enemy attacks.

In Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, Russian invaders are holding the defense. At the same time, the settlements of Olhivske, Malynivka, Chervone, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Charivne, Bilohirya, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Orikhiv, Novoandriivka and Stepove in Zaporizhzhia region; Bilozerka and the city of Kherson came under enemy shelling.

“Over the past day, the Air Force of the Defense Forces launched 16 strikes on the areas of concentration of personnel and military equipment of the invaders. Our defenders shot down enemy's Shahed-136 and Lancet unmanned aerial vehicles. At the same time, Ukrainian units of the missile troops and artillery hit 2 command posts, 4 areas of concentration of the enemy's manpower, weapons and military equipment, 2 anti-aircraft missile systems, an ammunition depot, an artillery unit in a firing position and 2 electronic warfare stations," the General Staff said.

As Ukrinform reported, from February 24, 2022 to March 24, 2023, the Defense Forces of Ukraine eliminated about 169,170 Russian invaders, including 1,020 soldiers over the past day alone.
