Russia's aggression in Ukraine leaves 867 children casualties - update

That’s according to the Prosecutor General's Office, Ukrinform reports.

"More than 1,317 children were affected in Ukraine as a result of the full-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation. As of the morning of December 23, 2022, the official number of children killed has not changed (450). The number of injured has increased to 867," the statement reads.

These numbers are not final, as work is ongoing to verify data in the zones of active hostilities, in temporarily occupied and liberated territories.

The largest numbers of affected children were recorded in Donetsk region (428), Kharkiv region (267), Kyiv region (117), Mykolaiv region (80), Zaporizhia region (80), Kherson region (74), Chernihiv region (68), Luhansk region (65), and Dnipropetrovsk region (40).

On December 22, two boys aged 3 and 15 were wounded as a result of enemy shelling in the village of Mahdalynivka, Zaporizhia region.

On the same day, an 8-year-old girl was injured as a result of shelling in Marhanets, Dnipropetrovsk region.

Some 3,126 educational facilities were damaged due to bombing and shelling by the Russian armed forces. Of them, 337 were completely destroyed.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Russian military killed four civilians in Donetsk region and wounded seven over the past day, December 22.
