War update: 206 frontline clashes over past day, fiercest fighting in Pokrovsk, Huliaipole sectors
According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine provided the update as of 8:00 on April 20 in a post on Facebook.
The enemy carried out 71 air strikes, dropping 253 guided aerial bombs. Russian forces also used 7,767 kamikaze drones and conducted 2,916 artillery strikes, including 85 attacks from multiple launch rocket systems.
Russian aviation struck targets near the settlements of Ivanivka, Havrylivka, and Velykomykhailivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region, as well as Vozdvyzhenske, Huliaipole, Liubytske, Mykilske, Dolynka, Charivne, and Kopani in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Ukraine’s aviation, missile forces, and artillery hit four clusters of Russian personnel.
In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, the enemy carried out two air strikes, using seven guided aerial bombs, and conducted 100 shelling attacks, including five from MLRS.
In the Southern -Slobozhanshchyna sector, Russian forces attempted to storm Ukrainian positions 10 times near Synelnykove, Prylipky, Starytsia, Vovchansk, Vilcha, and toward Bochkovе.
In the Kupiansk sector, Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully repelled 10 enemy attacks near Kurylivka, Kolisnykivka, Kivsharivka, Borivska Andriivka, and Radkivka.
In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian troops stopped six attempts by Russian forces to advance near Karmazynivka, Hrekivka, Drobysheve, and Lyman, as well as toward of Shyikivka and Tverdokhlibove.
In the Sloviansk sector, Ukraine’s Defense forces halted four Russian attempts to advance near Rai-Oleksandrivka.
In the Kramatorsk sector, the enemy launched two attacks near Holubivka and Nykyforivka.
In the Kostiantynivka sector, Russian forces carried out 21 attacks near Kostiantynivka, Pleshchiivka, Stepanivka, Illinivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Novopavlivka, and Sofiivka.
In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian forces repelled 42 assault actions near Bilytske, Rodynske, Dorozhnie, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Zatyshok, Udachne, Muravka, Novopidhorodnie, Molodetske, Novopavlivka, Filiia, and toward Novooleksandrivka, Vasylivka, Hannivka, and Shevchenko.
In the Oleksandrivka sector, the enemy launched four attacks near Oleksandrohhrad and Sichenne.
In the Huliaipole sector, there were 33 Russian assaults near Varvarivka, Dobropillia, Zelenе, Sviatopetrivka, Tsvitkove, Zaliznychne, Pryluky, Olenokostiantynivka, and toward Verkhnia Tersa, Huliaipole, and Hirkе.
In the Orikhiv sector, Russian forces attempted to advance two times near Pavlivka and Shcherbaky.
In the Prydniprovske sector, Ukrainian units stopped five enemy attacks near Bilohrudyi Island and the Antonivskyi Bridge.
In the Volyn and Polissia sectors, no signs of the formation of offensive Russian groupings were detected.
As previously reported, Ukraine’s total estimated Russian combat losses since February 24, 2022, to April 20, 2026, stand at around 1,319,270 personnel.
