On January 16, 141 combat engagements between the Ukrainian Defense Forces and Russian troops were recorded at the frontline, with the enemy attacking most actively in the Pokrovsk sector and Russia’s Kursk region.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces have shot down 33 Russian Shahed attack UAVs and other types of drones, and another 9 drones have been lost.
In the operations of the Defense Forces, up to 70% of tasks can be performed by flying drones and ground platforms.
The supply of flying drones to the Ukrainian Defense Forces is currently well-organized.

On 16, 2025, the Ukrainian forces and the Russian troops have engaged in 89 combat clashes. Battles continue across six fronts, with the heaviest fighting taking place in the Pokrovsk sector.
On January 16, the Russian forces launched drone attacks on Kharkiv resulting in injuries.
The Defense Forces of Ukraine shot down 34 Russian Shahed attack UAVs and other types of drones on the night of January 16. Another 18 UAVs were lost from tracking.
On January 15, 124 combat engagements between the Defense Forces of Ukraine and Russian invaders were recorded along the frontlines.

Early on January 15, the Russian forces targeted gas infrastructure in Kharkiv region with four Kh-59 missiles, some of which were intercepted.
Another 25 military and civilians have been returned to Ukraine from Russian captivity. Among them are defenders of Mariupol and Azovstal.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces shot down 30 missiles and 47 drones launched by the Russian forces at Ukraine early on January 15. The enemy targeted Ukrainian energy infrastructure, including gas infrastructure in Kharkiv, Lviv, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.
On January 14, a total of 170 combat engagements occurred on the frontline in Ukraine, with the most intense fighting in the Pokrovsk sector, where the Ukrainian forces repelled 70 attacks.
The UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Thomas Fletcher visited the frontline Kindrashivska community in the Kupiansk district of Kharkiv region.

Active combat operations are taking place in the village of Dvorichna in Kupiansk district, with enemy infantry attempting to advance and establish positions.
On January 14, the Russian forces have launched 84 attacks on the Ukrainian defenders' positions; fighting is currently ongoing on seven fronts. The Pokrovsk sector remains the most intense.
