War update: 199 combat engagements on frontlines in Ukraine

On January 18, as many as 199 combat engagements took place between the Ukrainian Defense Forces and the Russian invaders.

As reported by Ukrinform, this is mentioned in the message of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook regarding the situation as of 8:00 on Sunday, January 19.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, yesterday, the Russian troops launched five missile strikes and 25 airstrikes using seven missiles and 37 guided aerial bombs. The enemy also fired approximately five thousand times, including 117 attacks using multiple rocket launchers, and deployed 2,420 kamikaze drones.

The Russian forces targeted the Ukrainian positions and settlements in areas like Hlushkivka, Shyikivka, Borivska Andriivka, Borshchivka, Markove, Petrivka, Odradne, Rozlyv, Vesele, Temyrivka, Kostiantynopil, and Novosilka.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian aviation, missile forces, and artillery struck eight clusters of Russian personnel and equipment, as well as two air defense stations, one control point, one fuel depot, one EW station, and six other important Russian targets.

In the Kharkiv sector, the Russian forces launched six assaults near Vovchansk.

In the Kupiansk sector, the Ukrainian forces repelled nine Russian attacks near Petropavlivka, Lozova, and Pishchane.

In the Lyman sector, the enemy made 11 attempts to break through the Ukrainian defenses near the settlements of Zelenyi Hai, Pershotravneve, Kopanky, Novoiehorivka, Novosadove, Novoliubivka, and Zarichne.

In the Siversk sector, the Russian troops unsuccessfully attempted to storm the Ukrainian positions near Bilohorivka.

In the Kramatorsk sector, Russians launched 11 attacks in the areas of Stupochky, Predtechyne, and Chasiv Yar.

In the Toretsk sector, 20 enemy attacks occurred around Toretsk, Krymske, and Shcherbynivka.

In the Pokrovsk sector, the Ukrainian defenders stopped 98 offensive actions by the enemy in the areas of the settlements of Vodiane Druhe, Zelene Pole, Malynivka, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Zvirove, Udachne, Novoandriivka, Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Lysivka, Zelene, Shevchenko, Uspenivka, Sloviansk, Andriivka, Dachne, Ulakly, and Yantarne.

In the Novopavlivka sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 19 Russian attacks. The enemy attempted to advance most actively near Velyka Novosilka.

There were no combat engagements in the Huliaipole sector, while in the Orikhiv sector, the Russian troops launched one attack near Novodanylivka.

In the Prydniprovske sector, the Ukrainian forces successfully repelled two Russian assaults.

In Russia’s Kursk region, there were 12 combat engagements, athe Russian forces carried out five airstrikes using guided bombs and 464 artillery strikes, including 18 from multiple rocket launchers.

No signs of offensive formations by the enemy were detected in the Volyn and Polissia sectors.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, the total combat losses of the Russian troops in Ukraine from February 24, 2022, to January 19, 2025, amount to approximately 818,740 personnel, with 1,580 killed and wounded over the past day.
