Twelve journalists among 120 Kremlin prisoners, rights activists stress

Civic journalism is a new phenomenon, a response to the destruction of freedom of speech in Crimea. Regular residents-turned-journalists who started covering the situation of the occupied Crimea for the media have been facing persecution and attacks. Currently, there are 12 journalists out of 120 political prisoners held behind bars in Russian prisons.
